Ellen Jane (Salladay) Boyer

     On December 18, 2023 Ellen Jane (Salladay) Boyer passed away at Life Care Center of Treasure Valley Boise, Idaho at the age of 96. She was 13 days shy of her 97th birthday.

     She was born December 31, 1926 to Clay M. Salladay and Jessie Valentine Kobolt Salladay in Jerome, Idaho.  She was the oldest of four children, her siblings were Robert “Bob”, Delores “Sister”, and David. The family moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma when she was 9, and then back to Jerome where she graduated from Jerome High School.

     After she graduated from high school, she went to work for the telephone company as a switchboard operator taking telephone calls.  While working at the phone company Ellen was introduced to her future husband, Bill. They were married March 9, 1957. This union created a blended family moving Ellen in to her new role as homemaker, as Bill worked for the State Highway Department in Gooding. In their little house on Oregon Street, they raised Bill, Dianne, Rusty, Eddie, & David. As a family they enjoyed many camp outings to gather and chop wood.

     Throughout Ellen's life in Gooding, she was a life member of the order of Eastern Star and the order of Amaranth (a charter member of the Garnet Court of Gooding). She enjoyed bowling and travel, and was lucky enough to visit Europe and see Hawaii. Her greatest passion was golfing, so much that she was a snowbird for many years and traveled to Blythe, CA to golf during the cold Idaho winter months.

     In her later years she moved to Boise to be closer to family. She resided at Life Care of Treasure Valley, where she was able to make friends, participate in activities, and be cared for by the wonderful staff until her departure from this life.

     She was preceded in death by: her husband - William H. Boyer; her parents; her two brothers; her grandson - Brett; and her son-in-law - Eddie Butler.

     She is survived by: her sister - Delores Smith; her 5 children - Bill (Andy) Boyer, Dianne Butler, Rusty (Carol) Boyer, Eddie (Carole) Boyer, and David (Karla) Boyer; as well as 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

  A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Demaray Funeral Service- Gooding Chapel. Inurnment will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Gooding.

     Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel.
