The Demaray Family Funeral Service Legacy Continues

Dwain Demaray began his life long career as a funeral service professional at an early age. Growing up with his family, with his father involved with a large Treasure Valley funeral home, Dwain, his brother and two sisters spent a lot of time helping their father, Dowell at his place of business. Shortly after graduating from Capital High School in 1980, Dwain moved with his family to Gooding, Idaho where parents had purchased two funeral homes, The Thompson-Sears Funeral Chapel in Gooding and the Leeper Mortuary in Wendell. Later the family purchased the Bergin Funeral Chapel in Shoshone.

Dwain began helping, as many had before, at the bottom rungs of the business ladder. Lawn maintenance, washing cars, painting the rooms throughout the buildings and eventually helping as a funeral assistant. He later served his funeral service apprenticeship under his father and eventually continued his schooling at Boise State University. During this time he met a young lady, Ana Arriaga, a young woman of Basque decent who immigrated to the United States in the early 1970’s.  

They got married in June of 1987 before moving to Greshem, Oregon where he would complete his funeral service education at Mount Hood Community College. In 1988 Dwain graduated with his Associates Degree in Funeral Service and they returned to Gooding where Dwain would continue to work in the family business.  

In 2000 the family installed the first crematory to be built in the north side of the Snake River in the Magic Valley. Over the years they provided many cremation arrangements, not only for their business, but for other funeral homes in the valley.

In January 2010 Dwain and Ana had the opportunity to purchase the funeral service business from Dowell and Judy Demaray. 

Today our staff consists of; Dwain Demaray as Funeral Director, Insurance Counselor and Owner and Ana Demaray as Office Manager, Translator and Owner; and Earl Ray as Funeral Assistant and Maintenance Foreman. 

Our long term goal is for our family to be here for many, many years to serve your family.
