Arthur Ellis Donica, 81, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2019 at his home in Gooding, Idaho.

Arthur was born April 3, 1937 in McCall, Idaho.  He was the son of Arthur Edward and Fanny Blanche Donica and was the ninth of ten children in the family.

He met Sharon Burtch in Boise and they were married in 1972.  Arthur and Sharon moved to Gooding in 1974, where he worked at the Bliss Port of Entry.

He is survived by his wife Sharon of Gooding, Idaho, daughter Diane Claver (Cody) of Dubai, U.A.E., son Arthur Donica of Midvale, Utah, sister JoAnn Donica of McCall, Idaho, his grandchildren, Katie Claver, Jacob Claver, and Samuel Claver and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Fanny Donica, his brothers, Virgil Donica, Jack Donica, Gerald Donica and Pat Donica, and his sisters, Florine Baron, Genevieve Rutherford, Marjorie Hutchens and Juanita Dehlin.

Arthur enlisted in the U.S. air force in 1954 at the age of 17 and served at Owada Communication Site in Japan. After he was honorably discharged in 1957, he worked for Johnson Flying Service in McCall, Idaho. He then attended Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho.  Arthur later served as a police officer with the McCall P.D., Nampa P.D., and Boise, P.D.  He finished his law enforcement career with the Idaho State Police and the Idaho Transportation Department.

In his younger years, Arthur loved to ski and hunt around McCall where he grew up.  He later enjoyed pheasant and deer hunting in southern Idaho with his son, Arthur. He liked hunting in the Selway with his good friend Don Micknak. He enjoyed taking his children, Diane and Arthur, fishing in the creeks around Valley County and family trips to the Oregon coast.

Arthur was extremely knowledgeable in ancient world history, particularly ancient Roman and Celtic history.  He will be dearly missed.
