Ada Carlene Hansen Hollibaugh, 79, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2018. She was a dearly loved and loving wife, mother, grandmother, auntie, sister, and cousin. We know she was welcomed with open arms, hugs, and laughter by those who were waiting for her.

Carlene was born on January 12, 1939, in Jerome to Darrell Reed and Myrtle Mulliner Hansen, the youngest of five (older siblings Darrell Jr., Clifford, Irene, and Vivian). She grew up in Shoshone.

She met Ladd Charles Hollibaugh, the love of her life, in the fall of 1954. They were married in Shoshone on June 14, 1955, and recently celebrated 63 years of love and life together. They began their married life in Shoshone. After the birth of their first child, Cindy, they moved to Seattle, WA, where Ladd worked at Boeing on military aircraft wings. They moved back to Shoshone in early 1958, and had Ladd Jr. that March. They then moved to Dietrich, where they lived for many years and had three more children, Nellie, Mike, and Shellie. In 1969, they moved to Twin Falls, where they finished raising their family and lived for many years. They returned to Shoshone to Carlene’s childhood home in 2000, where they have lived since.

She was a Cub Scout and 4H leader, and a Primary teacher. She had a beautiful singing voice, and taught her kids every nursery rhyme and silly song there was. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with family. Carlene was very artistic and loved to create items for her family. She was a master at crochet, and all of her children and grandchildren have afghans she made for them. She was a talented seamstress who made clothing for her family and Barbie wardrobes for her grandchildren. She made leather work look easy. In the 1970s, Carlene sold and designed with TriChem. She made artistic jewelry boxes and containers, both tole painted and shell-covered. She was a talented woodcarver, ceramic painter, and copper worker. She was a rock hound and liked to make jewelry. She enjoyed the games of Double Solitaire and Scrabble, and was a fierce competitor.

Carlene is survived by her loving, adoring husband, Ladd, of Shoshone; five children: Cynthia “Cindy” (Gene) Eller, Shoshone; Ladd Hollibaugh, Jr., Jerome; Nellie Laley, Shoshone; Mike (Bobbie) Hollibaugh, Jerome; and Shellie (Royden) Eaton, Jerome; 13 grandchildren: Amanda Eller, Shoshone; Jami Eller Jones, Shoshone; Joshua Eller, Shoshone; Miranda (Russ) Weston, Ely, NV; Allysan (Rob) Baker, Twin Falls; Ladd Charles “Chase” Hollibaugh III, Jerome; Sarah (Mike) Kretchman, Shoshone; Bailey (Boede) Evans, Bruneau; Jennifer (Ben) Koch, Pocatello; Jered (Julie) Hollibaugh, Wendover, NV; JT Kidd, Boise; Shara (Shane) Roberts, Idaho Falls; and Liz (JW) Kirkham, Cleveland, TX; 23 great-grandchildren; her oldest brother, Dorrell Reed (Clara) Hansen, Jr., Boise; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Carlene was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Clifford (Dixie) Hansen; sisters Irene (Max) Moore and Vivian (Alvis) Pennington; son-in-law Jed Laley; as well as dearly loved brothers- and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

There will be a graveside service in the Shoshone Cemetery on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a gathering at the Hollibaugh home, 411 North Birch, Shoshone, Idaho.  In lieu of flowers, please share your memories.
