Clyde “Tom” Thomas Young, Jr., 74, of Wendell, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at his home.
Tom was born on December 17, 1944 to Clyde and Virginia Young.
Tom was raised in a small Ohio town where he attended school, graduating from Wynford High School in 1962.
While attending school he met his best friend – Leonard, and together they caused lots of mischief. Still getting together every couple of years to see what kind of trouble they could get into.
Tom joined the Army in 1962, serving over seas in Vietnam. After leaving the Army he moved to Idaho where he met the love of his life – Diane Jackson. They were married on December 4, 1967.
Tom and Diane moved around a lot in the early years of their marriage, finally settling in 1976 in Wendell where they raised their family.
Tom and his brother – Bob, started a construction company which Tom left in 1981 to serve his town and county. He and Diane ran the Wendell Ambulance Service out of their home through out the 1980’s and part of the 1990’s before the ambulance service was moved to Gooding. He retired from the E.M.S. system in 2000.
Tom then went to work for the Wendell Canal Company, fully retiring from there in 2011.
Tom loved spending time with his friends and family. Fishing and hunting, camping and going for long weekend adventures just to see what he could see. One of his most loved trips – going home to Ohio every couple of years.
Tom is survived by: his step-mother – Brin Dyer of Nevada, Ohio; his four children – Niciena (Keith) Pol of Galaxy, Virginia; Charity (Robert) Fulmer of Wendell, Idaho; Tom (Adora) Young of Buhl, Idaho; and Vicky (Marty) Knowlton of Twin Falls, Idaho; 12 grandchildren – Mollie, Brittnie, Rachel, Aly, Geni, Melanie, Crissy, Aaron, Jasmine, Randi, Jason and Natasha; 12 great grandchildren; brother – Don Young; sister – Linda VanGorder; numerous nieces and nephews.
