Jean Peterson Seamons
Jean Peterson Seamons, 85, a resident of Gooding, passed away peacefully after an extended illness on October 8, 2011 at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born October 2, 1926 to Leo James Peterson and Lillian Chloe Clayton in Preston, Idaho.
Jean married the love of her live Melvin Jepsen (Jay) Seamons on December 21, 1943 at the Logan Utah Temple; they were married for 67 years and were lifelong members of the LDS Church.
Jean loved to travel and live life her way. One adventure took her and Jay to Libya, Africa where she learned how to dress the correct way for the country and how to barter for the best deal. She also worked at French’s and Sunspice, a fresh pack potato factory where she obtained the head grater position. Farming with Jay was her greatest love and they spent many wonderful times enjoying working together as a team. At the time of her death she was still driving truck and helping haul the hay in Deeth, Nevada, living the winters in Gooding, Idaho.
She is survived by her husband Jay and 5 children; Melvin Wayne (Kena) of West Jordan Utah; Garth Jay (Dianna) of Rexburg, Idaho; Marla Jean (Lyle P. Sam); Cheryl Ann Palmer Fritz; and Blaine Clay (Sherrie) all of Battle Mountain, Nevada; 24 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; 4 sisters; 2 grandchildren, Melonie Danese Onley and Glenn Jay Palmer; 1 granddaughter-in-law, Laura Seamons; 2 daughters-in-law, Jeannine Seamons and Julie Seamons-Facer.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:45 pm, on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at the Hagerman Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at the Hagerman Cemetery.
