Richard “Dick” Lee Baker, 70, passed away in the early morning hours of December 6, 2018, with his family by his side. His death was due to complications related to a recent car accident. He was the husband of Wanda and they shared 47 wonderful years of marriage together.
Richard was born in Ontario, Oregon on December 23, 1947, to George Richard and Lela Grace Baker. He graduated from Filer High School and enlisted in the United States Army. When he was not on active duty, Richard helped others as an EMT, fire chief, custodian, and pharmaceutical courier. His most beloved job was as a long-haul truck driver where he could travel the country in his Kenworth truck.
He was a member of the L.D.S. Church and was sealed for eternity with his family in the Switzerland Temple in 1974. Richard gladly answered any church callings that were asked of him. He was a craftsman in multiple skill areas and loved to spend his time building and creating things. He will be remembered for his witty sense of humor and compassionate personality.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda; his children - Dan (Robin) Cecil, Candida (Greg) Tanner, and Angi (Stace) Campbell; his grandchildren - Tayler, Heather, Justin, Daniel, Mark, Sarah, Triston, Caden, and Shelby; and his two brothers and four sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his dog, Chancy.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hagerman, followed by a graveside service at the Wendell Cemetery. The viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
