Ruth Ricks Obituary

Ruth L. Ricks, 94, a resident of Boise, Idaho, died peacefully at Spring Creek Overland Assisted Living with her loving family by her side on May 22, 2018.

Ruth was born on May 3, 1924 in Alexandria, Nebraska, the first-born child of George and Delma Eden.  She moved with her family to Gooding, Idaho at a young age.  She and her four siblings lived on family farms in Gooding and Lincoln Counties.  Ruth attended Shoshone High School.

Ruth married Sam W. Daniels in 1941 and the couple had three children: Frank, Judy, and CW (Chuck).  They later divorced. Ruth married Floyd R. Ricks in 1962.  They lived in Shoshone until 1978 when Floyd retired and they moved to Moab, Utah. They bought a small trailer court and turned it into a beautiful place for families to live. In 1991 they retired again and moved back to Twin Falls to be near family.  She and Floyd enjoyed working outdoors and were well known for their beautiful flowers and well-kept yards.  Floyd preceded Ruth in death in 2008.

Ruth was a great mother, mother-in-law and grandmother.  She was a kind person, a wonderful neighbor and fun to be with.  She enjoyed cooking and baking and sharing her homemade goodies with family, neighbors and friends. When she lived in Twin she was fondly known as the "Cookie" Lady.

In 2012 Ruth moved to Boise to live at Spring Creek Overland Assisted Living where she was dearly loved by the residents, staff and visitors.  She called bingo, played pinochle, greeted visitors at the front door, hugging each one.  She thoroughly enjoyed going on the bus for special outings and eating out on Fridays.  Visitors and residents enjoyed dropping by her room to visit and enjoy her collections of pigs and Hallmark snowmen.

Ruth is survived by her children, Frank (Karen) Daniels, Meridian, Idaho; Judith Daniels (Kent) Player, Draper, Utah; and CW (Jenna) Daniels, Logan, Utah; 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is survived by brother, Jack (Helen) Eden, Hamilton, MT; brother-in-law Joe Cooper of Boise; and sister-in-laws Marsha Eden, Twin Falls, and Alicia Eden, Gooding.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, George and Delma Eden; brothers, Merl and Dale Eden; and sister, Beth Cooper.

A viewing will be held at Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel in Gooding, Idaho from 10:00 a.m. until noon on Wednesday, May 30, 2018.  Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the Elmwood Cemetery in Gooding.

On Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 1:00 p.m., a memorial service will be held at the Spring Creek Overland Assisted Living at 10139 W. Overland Road, Boise, Idaho.

The family deeply appreciates the loving staff and administrators at Spring Creek for the excellent care Ruth received while she was a resident.  They also want to express their gratitude to the St Luke's Meridian ER staff, the 6th Floor nursing staff, and the St. Luke's Hospice team who cared for Ruth in the last few weeks of her life.

A special thanks from Judy and CW's families to Frank, Karen and granddaughter, Susan, for being there for our mother, mother-in-law and grandmother.  There aren't enough words to express how much we realize and appreciate the time, loving care and assistance you gave Ruth while she was in Boise.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Hospice at 190 E Bannock Street, Boise, ID 83712 or to a charity of your choice.
