Thomas James “T.J.” Northcott, 60, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018 at Serenity Healthcare in Twin Falls after a courageous five-year battle with cancer. He had a never give up attitude even thru his sickness.
T.J. was raised and educated in Hailey, Idaho. He excelled in wrestling and football his junior and senior years at Wood River High School then went on to play four years of college football.
He then married Rhonda Richardson and they had two children, Teesha and Thom. They later divorced.
He then married Kelly Day. T.J. worked in the oil fields in Wyoming and California. They then moved to Alaska where he started his own business, G.E.S. He remained there until three years ago when he came back to Idaho to receive cancer treatments. T.J. lived with his parents in Gooding until he required more care then went to Serenity Healthcare these last four months.
T.J. lived his life to the fullest. Did all sports, owned his own airplane, boats, etc, even took up hockey and jet skiing. Any time he competed in something he would do well. He was very intelligent, even had patents on several items. T.J. could improvise or fix almost anything.
He is survived by: his parents, Thomas and Jolene Northcott; his son Tom (Nicole) Geils; his daughter, Teesha (Jason) Westervelt; his brother, Jack (Tina); his sister, Dustin (Darrell); niece, Darby and grandniece, Tenly; his grandchildren, Thomas and Bennett; and his faithful dog, Rossco who was always by his side.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Elizabeth Neyman, Thomas and Ethel Northcott and Jane and Jack Winters; and one nephew, Derek Dean.
Special thanks to Kathy Oneida and Nina Ward for getting T.J.’s classmates together for lunch or supper and also visits with him. To the wonderful staff for his great care at Serenity Healthcare and Harrison’s Hope Hospice. To all our wonderful friends and family who have been so supportive these last three years.
A viewing will be held on Friday, July 6, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 11:30 am at the Hailey Cemetery in Hailey. A lunch will be served at the Hailey L.D.S. Church immediately after the service.
