Alice Corrine Cox, age 88, a resident of Fairfield, Idaho, died October 24, 2024, at St. Luke's Hospital in Boise, Idaho. Alice was born on March 15, 1936, in Fort Bragg, California, to Edward and Ruth Bolton.
She attended Grade School in Fort Bragg, then moved with her family to Roseburg, Oregon, and attended Junior High School and High School. After graduating from High School, Alice immediately enlisted in the Army (Women's Army Corps), obtaining certification as a Medical Technician from the Medical Field Service School and William Beaumont Army Hospital in Fort Bliss, Texas, and served as a Specialist 3rd Class until being honorably discharged in May, 1956.
Alice moved to Fairfield in 1968, and soon after, married Eldon Cox. To support her family, Alice held many jobs, often at the same time, including working as a clerk at the local store, The Market Basket, cleaning the County courthouse, and working as a cook in the lunchroom at Camas County Schools, until she retired 2001. Since her retirement, Alice truly dedicated her life toward caring for her grandchildren, serving her church, and helping others, especially through her talent of crocheting.
Alice is survived by her son, Bert Cox (wife, Jessica Gage) of Fairfield, Idaho, and her daughter, LaRae Jensen (husband, Marty) of Layton, Utah, and by her nine grandchildren, whom she loved unconditionally: Adeline Gage, Brendon Cox, Emily Cox, Lydia Jensen, Collin Jensen (spouse, Marci), Nadia Jensen, Logan Jensen, Analeigh Friel (spouse, Ryan), and Georgiana Jensen. She was preceded in death by her husband, her grandson Keven Cox, her parents, her brother Arnold, and her sisters, Lorraine, Clara, and Helen.
Burial will take place at Mountain View Cemetery in Fairfield, Idaho, on November 7, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
