Alice Giles Pruitt, 86, a resident of Gooding, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at St. Luke's Medical Center in Twin Falls.
Alice was born to Earnest and Bertha Giles. She was the fifth child of six. Alice grew up and attended school in Idaho and Montana, primarily in the Richfield, Arco and Shoshone area. Alice enjoyed activities in childhood such as the girl scouts, earning badges and awards.
Alice met the love of her life, George, in Arco and they were married November 16, 1956. They had five children, James (Tony), Tamara, Brenda, Penny and Deborah, before moving to Oregon in 1966. Alice worked in the medical field and later at Oregon Freeze Dried Foods. She was a tremendously hard worker and always seemed to have boundless energy. She went to Linn Benton Community College to complete her GED while maintaining a job and adhering to an extremely high standard as a mother and wife.
George and Alice adopted another child, Melissa. After retiring Alice and George moved to La Pine and then Grants Pass. While in Grants Pass, Alice became the Guardian of 2 of her great grandsons, Nathan and Evan Nave. After George passed in 2013, Alice eventually moved back to Idaho to be closer to siblings and friends, while raising her great grandsons.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, George, her siblings Ellen, Robert, Vernon and Margie and their spouses, as well as her daughter Brenda and many other extended family. We believe there was quite a gathering for our mother when she passed.
She is survived by her children James Pruitt, Tamara and Russ Milton, Penny and Joe McCallum, Deborah Pruitt and adopted daughter Melissa Pruitt, her grandchildren Chad, Brad, Shasta, Krista, Tony, Tasha, Cammy and great grandchildren Nathan, Evan, Tristan, Trinity, Emily, Ficher as well as nieces and nephews Jerry, Bob, Bruce, Rob, Mike and Sherry and her brother David Giles and wife Wendy.
