Arlene A. Robinson, 86, a resident of Gooding, passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at her son’s home in Boise.
Arlene was born on July 26, 1934 in Valentine, Nebraska, the daughter of Henry and Alice Green. She was raised and educated in Valentine, a city in Cherry County, Nebraska. At twelve years old, twins Arlene and Darlene plus older sisters were babysitting, ironing and serving at women’s gatherings. There were thirteen children in the family, the youngest – Merritt was 6’7”. Dick and Harry Green fought in W.W. II. Mom often reminded us of Harry being brought home to their house until his burial.
Arlene married Roy Robinson on June 3, 1950 in Valentine, Nebraska.
We are very grateful for our Valentine, Nebraska born and Gooding, Idaho "hard working woman"… our mom, Arlene Ann Green Robinson. She is a goodness that's hard to describe. Feisty in a way we loved so much.
Roy and Arlene taught us quickly to love to work. We ate every meal at the table together, and because of these parents we all made it to graduation. Dad fought in Okinawa and Roy in Vietnam. We are thankful for our family that kept pulling back together when we sometimes fell apart.
ARLENE means " A PLEDGE AND A PROMISE".
Mom told us a horse ran away with her so she never got on another. but she would feed them and soothe their wounds. She also would not go swimming because someone dunked her as a kid.
We recall her doing laundry outside on the Ringer Washer and at the same time, we were looking at chickens with their heads cut off ... Then Mom was picking fruit and getting ready to can. She ironed clothes at night. AND often drank two pots of Folgers coffee a day.!
Mom worked for many businesses in Gooding. Idaho Deaf & Blind School - Cooks Grocery - Loads of Ironing - Cleaning homes, offices and retired from Cleaning the Court House twice. Arlene first retired at 67. They asked her back and she retired at age 84. Arlene's parting words to those she knew was "HAVE A GOOD ONE".
Mom sewed like a pro making some of our hand-made clothes without a pattern.
Father, Thank you for creating such a Strong, Get-It-Done, Sweeeeet Beyond Measure Woman like our Mom that we are blessed to grow up with. Arlene loved the Lord and this year she often said "I'm ready to go HOME."
PSALM 30:10-12 LORD You are merciful to me and You are my Help. You turned my wailing into dancing, you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy. My heart will sing Your Praises and not be silent. LORD my God, I will praise You FOREVER.
She is survived by: three sons – Roy Robinson Jr of Gooding, Steve Robinson of Reno, Nevada and Jeff Robinson of Boise; one daughter – Jeri Robinson Wilson of Moore Haven, Florida; one sister – Ruthellen McCallister of Brenham, Texas; her grandchildren: artist – Justin Robinson, builder – Trampus Robinson, business – Cassidy Robinson, classy hair stylist – Morgan Askew, teacher/coach – Katy Galloway and exuberant mom - Aja McCuller; and great grandson – Lukas Askew is on his way-y.
