Barry Lee Gines was born March 27, 1948 in Wendell, Idaho. He left this earth and entered into the arms of Jesus on January 18, 2022, in Burley, Idaho, surrounded by his three sons and his wife.
Barry grew up on a working ranch and farm in Hollister, Idaho. There he helped raise, feed, and milk cows along with farming the land. He was from a large family, 7 brothers and 2 sisters. He graduated Filer High School in 1966 and was drafted into the Army shortly after. He served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War where he was door gunner riding in a Huey, and also served as a crew chief. He is described by his sons as a B@D @&$!!!
On June 25, 1971, Barry married Rosalynn (Bailey). This union blessed them with 4 wonderful children, Michele, Colby, Travis, and Lonnie. Together these 6 spent their early years living in Hollister followed by many years residing in Richfield, Idaho where he worked for Wards Cheese. The kids fondly remember their dad sneaking them into the sleeper of the semi so they could spend quality time with him on his long cheese hauls. On Saturday mornings they would go in and get fresh cheese curds out of the vat, this is where the love of cheese started with each kid. As his kids became adults, whenever he got the opportunity to see them, he would always make sure he had a few bricks of cheese and a full box of fresh produce from his garden to share. Barry loved the outdoors and taught his kids to hunt, fish, ride horses, and helped them in 4-H. He loved taking them on camping trips and doing anything that would have them spending time in the mountains and taking in the great outdoors.
In 1985 Barry married Ann King, of Richfield, Idaho. Ann had four children, Larry Chris, Jeremy, Amber, and Jacob. Shortly after their union Ann was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and later succumbed to her illness.
On January 26, 1990, Barry married Nancy. With his new bride he gained three more children. Jason, Destiny, and Jared, were blessed with a wonderful stepfather who supported them in their sporting events, taught them to drive, hunt, gut a deer, and much more. While they all resided in Gooding, Barry and Nancy became foster parents. They made a difference in this world by inviting 45 foster kids in their home over the years. The first girl they fostered captured their hearts and Ashley was later officially adopted, making Barry a father of eight.
Faith, family, and the great outdoors were something Barry was very passionate about. During his recent lengthy hospital stay he would tell everyone who walked into his room that Jesus loved them. He wanted to make sure everyone knew, not just then but always. He loved making trips to see all his kids and grandkids and joining whatever fun (or work) they were doing. He could often be found helping build something for one kid and helping another lay tile. He enjoyed tying flies and building custom fly rods for those he loved. They were a labor of love he was proud and excited to gift them. He was a phenomenal grandfather, always happy to take his grandkids fishing, camping, or golfing and made it to as many sporting events as he could.
Barry also loved giving his time and serving the Lord with Power Ministry. He had made several trips to Mexico to build houses and churches and was gearing up to go again before his recent illness. He was always involved with the mission fundraisers and could be found helping at the annual Power Golf Tournament each summer.
Barry was a driving man and had a long and successful career covering many miles. He worked for many years as a long-haul trucker for Arlo G. Lott trucking. When he lived in Richfield, he was driving for Wards Cheese, and then finishing his career driving for Glanbia. When he retired at age 71, he had driven for the company now called Glanbia for over 30 years.
Barry is survived by his wife of almost 32 years, Nancy; his children, Michele Surplus of Ft. Worth, TX, Colby (Codi) Gines, of Powell, WY, Travis (Nonie) Gines of Farson, WY, Lonnie (Devin) Gines of Queen Creek, AZ, Jason (Emily) Graybeal of Gooding, ID, Destiny (Chad) Nielson, of Filer, ID, Jared (Stefanie) Graybeal, of Ft. Collins, CO, and Ashley (Jared) Fuller of Emmett, ID.
He is also survived by his brothers, Hal Gines, Brent (Caren) Gines, Kurt (Joy) Gines, Bryce (Kristie) Gines, and David (Cheryl) Gines; and his one sister Nancy (Dan) Paetzold.
He is also survived by his many grandchildren, Devon Surplus, Caden and Casen Gines, Madison, Clancy, and Brystoll Gines, Bryler and Chesney Gines, Garrett and Adalynn Graybeal, Natalie, Dallan, and Blake Nielson, and Jackson Fuller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Gene Gines; his sister Carol; and brothers Mike and Bruce.
