Burkhardt Scott.  She attended school in Middlebury, Indiana for the majority of her school career, graduating with honors from Warsaw High School in 1962.  Carol attended Valparaiso University where she studied church music for one year.  During her time there, she studied both piano and organ.  She then transferred to the University of New Mexico where she studied Portuguese and Anthropology.  It was here that she met her future husband, Steve Kinnaman. They were married in Santa Fe on December 23, 1967.  Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Shoshone, Idaho where they started their family.  They spent many years farming in the Shoshone and Jerome areas.

Carol spent many years working in various industries, including farming, manufacturing, education, clothing manufacturing, music instruction, and as a professional musician.  She also owned a sewing business where she created numerous beautiful wedding, prom, and fiesta dresses as well as performing custom tailoring for the local department store.

Carol played piano and organ for many churches throughout her life. She was the accompanist for Berean Baptist Church in Wendell for nearly two decades until shortly before her death.

Music was a central focus of her life and she devoted countless hours to playing and singing. She performed for numerous weddings and funerals, as well as accompanying school and church choirs. She also sang in the chamber choir and played clarinet in the band at the College of Southern Idaho. So many people admired and respected her for instilling in them a great love and appreciation for music. She passed on her talent and love of music to her children and grandchildren.
