Carolyn Carpenter Obituary

Carolyn Joan (Boyer) Carpenter, 77, of Gooding, Idaho, passed away peacefully at her home, July 24, 2022.

She was born on November 3, 1944, in Gooding, Idaho. She was raised by her parents just outside of Gooding, Idaho on her father’s homestead. She attended Gooding Schools; she was in drill team, pep club, choir and in her freshman year she was a twirler graduating in 1964.

She married Larry Carpenter in 1973, and from this marriage they had three children - Larry Jr, Roy Alan, and Carrie. When she married Larry, she gained three step-daughters - Angie, Andrea and Lauri. Larry and her later divorced.

She was an avid bowler, bowling for Dean’s Repair for 20 years.  She enjoyed going to tournaments and spending time with her friends (causing havoc and chaos with shenanigans). She did various things for work as an adult but the last place she worked was in the school cafeteria until she retired in 2005.

She had quite a few battles with cancer and won every time, even during the cancer she still found a way to make it fun. She dyed her hair all sorts of funny colors until it eventually fell out, she then resorted to fun wigs and even these quirky hats, one her grandchildren dubbed the ‘chicken hat’ because it resembled a chicken. She had a black teacup chihuahua - M&M whom she loved very much.

Later in her life she became a part of the Red Hat Ladies, and thoroughly enjoyed outings with them, even bringing her grandchildren to their events. She also enjoyed having lunch with The Class of ‘64 Ladies and was always so excited to be able to go spend that time with her friends.

She was preceded in death by: her sons - Larry Jr. and Roy Alan; her parents - Maudie and Roy; her brother – Darrell; grandson - Cody Allen-Stiffler; aunts, uncles, cousins and some very dear friends.

She is survived by: her daughter – Carrie; her stepdaughters - Angie (Josh), Andrea (Bill), and Lauri; her son-in-law - Todd Stiffler and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. The grandchildren she was the closest to and got to spend the most time with were Daniel (Karen), Clifton (Nicole), Brian, Enola (James), Alexia, Ace, William and Jaxon. Also, some very close friends - Debbrah Pauls, Sherry Boone, Nancy Retherford, Kathy Shea, Brant and Zoe Kelley. There are numerous others that she cherished and loved. There are also many other kids that adopted Carolyn as one of their “moms” and she held them close to her heart.
