Dale Hobdey Obituary

Dale Hobdey, 59, a resident of Filer, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at his home in Filer.

Dale was born on July 9, 1962 in Pagosa Springs, Colorado.

Dale grew up in Bliss, Idaho where he was raised living the country life along with his four sisters. He enjoyed basketball, soccer, and playing trumpet in the band. He graduated a Bliss Bear in 1981.

After graduating Dale began working for the Northside Canal Company while living in Gooding, then later moving back to his childhood home in Bliss. He was fortunate enough to be able to move back to Gooding to his little piece of heaven, “The head of the Y.” Dale lived here throughout his children’s childhood. He taught his kids how to ride motorcycles, 4-wheelers, and how to fish right out their front door.

Dale later moved to Filer, Idaho where he began his 14 year career at Henningsen’s Cold Storage.

Dale was always ready for a good ride, cutting massive amounts of firewood, or just enjoying a nice bbq on his hand-made deck. He loved to stop by Ma and Pa’s to see what they might need help with. He will be remembered for being a friend to everyone. Even his kid’s friends created a special bond with him during their hunting trips and bike rides.

Six years ago, Dale became a grandfather. Papa Dale followed his “kids” everywhere making special trips to ‘rastle around with them, play at their Treehouse, or to just watch movies.

Dale enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, riding his motorcycle and rzr, and spending time with his family.

Dale is survived by his parents, Mick and Carol Hobdey of Wendell, ID, his son’s Dustin Hobdey of Idaho Falls, ID, and Joshua Hobdey of Gooding, ID, his daughters, Sherelle Hobdey of Twin Falls, ID, and Katie (Ben) Holland of Gooding. His sisters, Barbara Gibbs of Texas, Debbie (Doug) Hampton of Gooding, ID, Michele (Bob) Elliott of Bliss, ID, and Lois (Guy) Jackson of Gooding, ID.

His grandchildren Jack, Paige, and Ava Holland and Hudson Hobdey.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, brother Brad Hobdey, and niece Ashley Faulkner.
