It is highly recommended for those in attendance at the High School to wear face masks and follow social distancing recommendations.

David Anderson Simon, 56, a resident of Fairfield in Camas County Idaho, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 while participating in his favorite pastime of snowmobiling.

He was born March 13, 1964 in Gooding, Idaho to William (Bill) A., and Shirley Simon. He was raised in Camas County, and educated in Fairfield, Idaho home of the Camas County Mushers. David was active and involved in many clubs and sports at school, where he still holds Camas County School’s high jump record of 6’6”.  He grew up on a family farm playing with toy tractors until he was old enough to play with real ones, and participate in other daily farming tasks.

After graduating from high school in 1982, David attended the University of Idaho where he was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) Greek Fraternity. He completed a Bachelor’s of Science in Agricultural Economics in 1987. During summer months he helped on the farm, and through his years at the University he met the love of his life Karen Frederiksen, whom he later married in March 1988.  He returned home to the Camas Prairie to continue his passion of farming full time as a third-generation farmer joining his father Bill A. and brother Bill R. Simon on the family farm.

David enjoyed the next 33 years farming on the beautiful Camas Prairie. He was involved in the Fairfield Community Church and loved Jesus as his savior and friend. He looked forward to his winter hobbies of snowmobiling and skiing in the Soldier Mountains, passions which he passed on to his sons. He was blessed to spend much of his life with family, many of whom live and farm on the prairie. He lived to see both his sons married, and worked side by side with one son who took on the tradition of farming with him.

David dearly loved his wife, kids, grandkids, parents, brother, sister, brother/sister in-laws, nieces and nephews, and friends. He sought out adventure which led to a full and joy-filled life.  He left his family and friends with many lasting memories, and he will be greatly missed.

David is survived by: his wife - Karen Simon; parents - Bill A. and Shirley Simon; his sister -Debbie (Matt) McLam; his brother - Bill R. (Shari) Simon; his sons - Andrew (Sierra) and Isaac (Stephanie) Simon; and two grandchildren - Kailyn and Tara Simon. He also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

David’s service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fairfield Community Church for close family and live-streamed to the Camas County High School’s Gym for the public to gather.  Everyone is invited to follow up to the Mountain View Cemetery for the committal service.

Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel.

David’s service will also be streamed live at Fairfield Community Church’s Facebook Page - https://www.facebook.com/idahofcc.
