DeWayne Oliver Traughber, 90, a resident of Gooding, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at Stonebridge Assisted Care in Wendell.
DeWayne “Tyke” Traughber was born on July 1, 1935 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the son of Gladys Valentine (Hungerford) and Clyde Ashmore Traughber. He was raised and educated in Swan Valley, Idaho Falls and Roberts, Idaho. He farmed with family, played baseball in high school and graduated in 1953 from Roberts.
He married Belva Mae Peterson on December 22, 1956 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They moved to Salmon to help with the family’s cattle ranch in Big Hole, Montana. They then moved to Dillon, Montana. At this time, they had six children. They then went to Gooding, then Moore where they farmed six hundred acres themselves. The 7th child joined their family here. They moved to Wendell and back to Gooding and then back to Wendell. They went to Medicine Lodge to run a cattle ranch for his brother-in-law. The last move was back to Gooding near his family.
He loved his family.
DeWayne is survived by: two sons – Rodney (Kim) Traughber of Weiser and John (Bonnie) Traughber of Wendell; four daughters – Debra (Steve) Dayley of Hagerman, Teresa (Gary) Miller of Gooding, DeAnn (Tim) Zollinger of Featherville and Beverly (George) Rost of Wendell; one sister – Nita Thomas; 26 grandchildren; 58 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his brother – Clyde; his wife – Belva; his daughter – Bonnie; daughter-in-law – Ginny; granddaughter – Whitney; and great grandson – Kolby.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel.
Burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Gooding.
