Delmer LeeRoy Aldrich, 94, of Twin Falls, Idaho passed away on August 11, 2025 with family present at the Visions Home Health Hospice House in Jerome, Idaho.
He was born on April 22, 1931 in Fremont, Ohio to Ralph Aldrich and Ruth Mae Aldrich.
Del proudly served his country as a member of the United States AirForce for 20 years, joining in December of 1950 and retiring in April of 1971. He met Tommie Jo Anderson while in the service and they married in December of 1954. He did 219 combat missions during the Vietnam War and was shot down twice. He traveled all over the world. The Air Force was his life, and he loved to tell his stories to anyone who would listen. He earned many medals and awards during his time in the service and was very proud of them!
After his retirement from the Air Force, he worked on farms in North Idaho, building fence and doing whatever. He then worked for 20 years in the grocery retail business. His last job before retirement was as a Security Officer at Clear Springs Food where he retired at the age of 74. Del’s first wife Tommie passed away in 2001 from cancer. He then met and married Dollie Mae Egersdorf on August 14, 2002 in Featherville, Idaho. Dollie passed away in 2021 from cancer. David and Karen took over the care of Del from the time Dollie passed until his passing. Karen and Melody spent many hours sitting with him putting puzzles together as that was one of the activities he loved to do!
Del is survived by his three step-children, David (Karen) Egersdorf of Twin Falls, Idaho; Steven (Julie) Egersdorf of Heber City, Utah; and Shelly Waters of Twin Falls, Idaho; Grandchildren: Richard, Melody, David Mathew, Suzen, Jonathan, Erik, Karissa and Martin. There are numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Richard and Willie.
At Del’s request no formal service will be held. There will be military graveside honor for Del at the Elmwood Cemetery in Gooding, Idaho on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 2:00 pm.
