Derek Michael Harmon

  Derek Michael Harmon, 55, a resident of Idaho Falls, died on January, 14, 2025, just outside Carey, Idaho.

  Derek was born on May, 25, 1969, in Upland, California, the son of Louise and Tony Harmon.

  He was raised and schooled in Upland. He graduated high school and then went on to use his aptitude for hands-on building to begin contract construction and remodeling work. Upland is also where his love for adventure and shoot-to-thrill lifestyle began to take form. A part of his life up into the very end. 

  In 1994, his brother Darren introduced him to Becky Hogancamp. They were together for 5 years before their marriage on October 10, 1999, in Upland. A year later on November 9, 2000, their first son, Kaelus Michael Harmon, was born. Then their second son, Keagan Mitchell Harmon, became a blessing for them on February 2, 2003. Derek spent his life passing on his love for adventure and experimentation to his boys. He instilled Kaelus with his same love for rocking music and building with his hands. He encouraged Keagan to never stop exploring, and to chase the thrill of life even if it seemed scary. 

  Derek also touched many lives in his work as a custodian for two local school districts. His love for the kids and desire to see them successful and happy was felt all through the building. This same heart was felt during his time at Lincoln Court Assisted Living, where he spent his days helping staff and residents with repairs, all while entertaining them with his eccentric personality and dry wit.

  Derek is survived by his ex-wife yet lifelong love Becky. His two sons Kaelus and Keagan. His brother Darren, and his mother Louise.

  Preceded in death by his father Tony.
