Donna Elaine Byrns left this earth to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
Donna was born to Elwin and Eunice Wellard, in Shoshone, Idaho on October 9, 1939. She was born in a little rock house north of Shoshone. The home is still in use today.
Donna was the second of four children. She has an older brother – Kenneth, a younger brother – Larry, and a sister – Verna.
She went to a one-room school in the first grade. Her father took her and Kenneth to school in a little horse-drawn buggy. She attended school in Shoshone until 5th grade when the family moved to Rexburg, Idaho. They then moved to Salmon, Idaho, where again she went to a one-room school. When she started 7th grade, the family moved back to Shoshone, where she attended school until the 11th grade. They then moved to Wendell, where she graduated from High School. After high school, she went to Twin Falls Business College.
She started working for Earl Greenawalt, Sr. of Jerome, Idaho as a private secretary after she graduated from Business College, and worked for him for 9 years. Earl Greenawalt owned a chain of Hardware and Furniture stores in the Magic Valley and also a Wholesale Company.
Donna married Melvin Byrns on February 18, 1962. Their first child – Michael Scott was born on August 3, 1966 and their second child – Roger Clark was born on December 2, 1967.
The family moved to Boise in 1967, then to Homedale, Idaho in 1972. While they were in Homedale, Donna worked for the Head Start Program and the public kindergarten.
They then moved to Filer, Idaho in 1977. Donna was a member of the Nazarene Church which was pastored by their dear friend - Roane Maurice.
In 1992 Melvin and Donna moved to Caldwell, Idaho. Donna was an active member of Centennial Baptist Church for many years. Afterwards they moved to Middleton, Idaho for a time before making their last move approximately 14 years ago to Tuttle, Idaho where they have since resided.
Donna is survived by: her husband – Melvin; her 2 sons – Michael (JoLynn) and Roger; 10 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; two brothers and one sister.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 11:00 am at Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel with Pastor Larry Walton officiating. Burial will follow at the Wendell Cemetery in Wendell.
