Doris Marie Nielson, 92, a resident of Gooding, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024 at her home in Gooding.
Doris was born on March 2, 1931 in Phoenix, Arizona, the daughter of Ethel and Samuel Owings. She was raised and educated in King Hill, Idaho. She loved the farm, milking cows, gardening and all that encompasses rural life in Idaho.
She married Jene Nielson on June 27, 1980 in Glenns Ferry at the Three Island Crossing State Park.
Doris loved the outdoors. She was often seen with her head down as she walked looking for interesting rocks and coins. She loved to investigate the Arizona desert in their Baja Volkswagen. Doris and Jene worked for the Forest Service for four years in Seeley Lake, Montana, overseeing campgrounds and trail heads and enjoyed these years in the great outdoors. They moved to Gooding in 2016.
Doris is survived by: her husband – Jene Nielson of Gooding; and her son – Mike (Diane) Rose of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; four sisters; three brothers; and one son – Gary LaVon Rose.
A celebration of life will be held on a later date.
Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel.
