Dustin Diane Northcott, age 62, resident of Carey, Idaho passed away on Monday, September 25th 2023 in Ketchum, Idaho surrounded by loved ones.
Dustin Northcott was born, January 9th, 1961 in Hailey Idaho to Thomas Edward Northcott and Jimmie Jolene Neyman. She was the youngest of three children raised by loving parents in Hailey, Idaho. She loved and honored her parents who taught her the value of hard work, the importance of self-reliance, and the eternal nature of the family. Dustin attended Wood River High School and graduated in 1979. She was an active member of FHA and enjoyed skiing. She also helped her mother and father who owned Neyman Chevrolet. Dustin enjoyed sewing and playing the piano with her Mother. She worked at Broyles Pharmacy while in high school and then at S and H Auto in Hailey. She loved fishing and tying flies with her father and eventually opened up her own fly fishing and tackle shop.
She met Darrell McKenzie in 1990 and they enjoyed over 33 years together. Darrell and Dustin worked together to build their charming home in Carey, Idaho where they have lived all these years. Their first child, Derek Dean, was born in 1991 and sadly passed away at only one year old. Their second child, Darby Dane, was born in 1994 and has brought much joy to their lives. They were especially happy to welcome their granddaughter, Tenly Jolene to the family, Dustin adored her granddaughter.
Dustin enjoyed doing a variety of crafts, was a very good seamstress and loved making things for others. One special gift was a beautiful quilt she made for Darby’s teacher with pictures she had taken of each classmate. Darrell, Dustin and Darby enjoyed raising cattle and sheep. Dustin spent over ten years assisting Darby with her 4-H sheep projects, attending every sports event and helping her daughter achieve 12 years of perfect attendance in school. She also helped Darby in the Trailing of the Sheep Festival and together they led sheep in the parade. Dustin was a very devoted and caring mother.
Dustin was a very selfless caring lady who always thought of others and she had many friends who loved and admired her. She was a loving daughter, sister, beloved companion, wonderful mother, grandmother and cherished member of the community. Dustin will forever be remembered for her compassionate heart and selfless nature. Her genuine kindness and empathetic spirit left a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to know her. She had a special way of making everyone feel valued, loved and heard. Dustin will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her legacy of compassion and love continue to inspire all those who were blessed to know her.
She is survived by her life partner - Darrell McKenzie; mother - Jimmie Jolene Northcott; daughters - Darby Dane Northcott McKenzie and Kathy (Scott) McKinney; son - Mike (Lana) McKenzie; brother - Jack (Tina) Northcott; grandchildren - Tenly Jolene Northcott, Myla McKenzie, Cannon McKinney and Ricky McKenzie; aunts - Barbara (David) Conway-Olsen, Mary May Potter, Elizabeth Stuhlberg and Debbie (Moj) Broadie; nephew - Thom (Nicole) Geils; niece - Teesha Northcott (Jason Westervelt); and great nephews - Thomas Northcott, Bennett Westervelt, Sterling Westervelt; and numerous cousins.
She is preceded in death by her son - Derek Dean Northcott McKenzie; brother - Thomas James Northcott; and father - Thomas Edward Northcott Jr.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, at 12 noon at the Carey Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Viewing will be held one hour prior to service time.
Burial will follow at the Carey Cemetery.
