Dwight Darrel Brodhead

Dwight Darrel Brodhead, 91 a resident of Gooding, took his “angel ride” to meet his Jesus from Stonebridge Assisted Living Center in Wendell, Idaho on Saturday August 18th 2018.

Dwight was born on July 19th, 1927 in Dayton, Washington to Claude Sr. and Stella Brodhead and was raised on a wheat farm in the Dayton area.

Dwight married Esther Alcorn in Dayton on December 22, 1946.  During the span of his life Dwight was a wonderful daddy to his own two children, and also to 32 foster teenage sons over a span of years.

He along with his wife Esther were owner/operators of the Northwest Roping School and Arena Café in the Tri Cities area at the time of their retirement in or near 1989.

Before landing in the Tri-Cities he had many jobs and professions: he worked for many neighbors during his teen years on their farms and for the Columbia County road crew on a rock crusher, for the Green Giant harvesting peas and putting up pea hay, operated a cattle ranch near LaCrosse, WA, worked Little Goose Dam, and an Atomic Energy facility.  He was an accomplished carpenter and belonged to the Carpenters Union of Washington, built a couple houses and remodeled many. And while doing this he found time to hunt, fish, and rodeo, team rope, spend time with his grandchildren and tell people about Jesus.

He is survived by: his children, Darrel and his wife, Danna Brodhead of Cave Creek, AZ; Clarissa and her husband, Ed Brown of Gooding, ID; grandchildren: Devin and his wife, Jeri Brown of Bliss, ID; Destry and his wife, Cami Brown of Oshkosh, NE; Deann Kehrer of Endicott, WA; and Brian and his wife, Jodi Brown of St. John, WA; 13 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren and he could not of been prouder of any of them, they were the joy of his life.  He is also survived by three sisters and three sister-in-laws

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Esther; his parents; two brothers and two sisters.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday September 1, 2018 at 2:30 pm at the Desert Hills Church of the Nazarene 129 6th Ave West in Gooding with members of his family officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dwight’s name to the Bliss Community Church P.O. Box 140 Bliss, ID 83314 - where he attended for several of his last years.
