Edna Lee Burton, 93 of Gooding, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born February 17, 1932 in Hagerman, Idaho to Marvin Lee Owsley and Ada Irene Palmer. She was raised and educated in Bliss. In November 1946, Edna married David Robbins. Together they farmed and operated a dairy in Bliss; raising their three sons- Bruce, Ken and Jimmy. Tragically, David passed away in March of 1981.
In March of 1987 Edna married Frank Burton. Edna and Frank continued their life together on the farm until 2000 when they moved to Gooding after selling the farm. Frank passed away in July 2008.
Edna was a homemaker and an excellent cook. Her children and grandchildren enjoyed her many dishes, especially her cookies and rolls. She became a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Gooding in 1961 and was a member until its closure. Afterward Edna continued to have church in her home until her death. Edna had a passion for square dancing. She and Frank belonged to the Buttons and Bows Square Dance Club, traveling across Idaho and sometimes out-of-state, square dancing. Also, she was an avid golfer, belonging to the Ladies Golf League in Gooding. Edna was involved with the Gooding Senior Center where she enjoyed volunteering, playing pinochle each week, and playing in the monthly pinochle competitions with the Shoshone Senior Center.
Edna was preceded in death by: her parents; her two husbands; her sons - Jimmy Robbins and Ken Robbins; great-grandson - Kaleb Conrad; her step-daughters - Donita Burton Mohamed and Diane Burton; and step -granddaughter - Nikki Seidel.
She is survived by: her sister - Fern Hamilton (Oakley, CA); her son - Bruce (Sue) Robbins (Fairfield); her daughter-in-law’s - Patty Robbins (Twin Falls), and Cheryl Robbins (Boise); her step-son - Tim Burton (Gooding); her grandchildren - Connie (Brandee) Gormley, Dennis (Kim) Robbins, Karen (Cliff) Dillard, Becki (Mike) Stahlecker, Dan (Carrie) Robbins, Tami (Brandon) Conrad, Kayti Lopez (Josh); step grandchildren Rock (Terry) Brown, Vance Brown, Taryn Liggett, Briean Burton (Richie), Heidi Woodhouse, Jill Bicknell, and Eric Garriss; thirty great -grandchildren and eighteen great-great grandchildren with three more on the way.
The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the Idaho Home Health and Hospice staff for their compassionate care in Edna’s final months.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gooding Senior Center.
A graveside service for friends and family will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Elmwood Cemetery in Gooding.
Following the service there will be a dinner and Celebration of Life at the Gooding Senior Center, 308 Senior Ave, Gooding, Idaho.
Cremation and funeral services are under the care and direction of Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel.
