Elaine Nicholas Hilt, 80, a resident of Twin Falls and formerly of Gooding passed away April 29, 2026 at Grace Assisted Living in Twin Falls. Elaine was born on November 28, 1945 in Montgomery, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Richard and Doris Nicholas. She was the eldest of her siblings Steve Nicholas, Robert Nicholas, and Katy Jenkins.
She was raised in Southern California. After high school she attended Fullerton Junior College at age 18 and married Daryl Alan Hilt soon after on March 21, 1964 in Paramount, CA. at Emmanuel Reformed Church. They later made their home in Potter Valley CA, and then embarked on an adventure to start a dairy in Gooding Idaho where they remained for 40 years.
Elaine was an RN in multiple hospitals through the years and worked as a hospice nurse later in life, along with raising dairy calves and her family. She was the first family member to acquire the knowledge and execute the craft of artificial insemination for the dairy herd, and subsequently taught other family members.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, sewing, Bible Study Fellowship, and teaching Sunday School.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband Daryl Hilt. They were married 61 years. Together they had three sons -Charles (Monica) Hilt of Gooding, Richard Hilt of Buhl, and David (Katrina) of Gooding; one daughter, Arlene (Matthew) Liebe of Twin Falls. She had seven grandchildren – Kiersten, Jed, Korah, Justin, Jonathan, Daryl, and James, and five great grandchildren – Emma, Harmony, Ezra, Esther, and Genesis. She lived a full and blessed life.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Living Waters Evangelical Presbyterian Church (LWEPC) in Wendell. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made LWEPC.
