Gary L. Fullmer, 78, a resident of Fairfield, died Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at his home.
Gary was born February 8, 1940 in Midvale, Utah to Harry Smith Fullmer and Helen June (Madison) Fullmer. He grew up in Midvale, Utah with his two brothers Richard (Dick) and Rodney (Rod) Fullmer attending grade school and graduating high school (Jordan H.S.) in Draper, Utah.
Gary worked at Kennecott Copper (Utah) after high school before serving in the military (Army) for 3 1/2 years. Gary was an exemplary soldier and served a special tour of duty in Vietnam. After his time in the military, Gary met Susan Pace in Utah and they were married in 1967. They had three boys, Earl M. Fullmer, Larry Scott Fullmer and Steven Wade Fullmer.
Gary attended and graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science in Range Science. After graduation, he worked for the BLM and then Forest Service. His time with the Forest Service took him to multiple locations in the western U.S. until he retired as the Sawtooth District Ranger in Fairfield, Id in 2004. Gary loved working for the Forest Service serving the public and people he worked with.
Of highest importance to Gary’s life was family and friends. He loved spending time visiting with his kids and spoiling grandchildren. He loved small town life and having breakfast at the local coffee shops. This allowed him to drink his favorite drink (coffee) and visit with family, friends and complete strangers who he would shortly befriend.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Smith Fullmer and Helen June (Madison) Fullmer; brother, Richard (Dick) Fullmer; his son, Earl Fullmer; and grandson, Breckin Fullmer.
He is survived by brother, Rodney (Rod) Fullmer (Nevada); sons, Larry Scott Fullmer (Arizona) and Steven Wade Fullmer (Idaho); and 10 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 10:00 am at the Fairfield Community Church. Burial with military honors will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery north of Fairfield.
