Gertrude “Gert” Clarkson, age 77, of Gooding Idaho, passed away November 11, 2019 at her home, after a long, courageous battle against Lewy Body Disease.
She was born to Matthew Geier (of Germany) and Lily Saborio (of Costa Rica) in San Jose, Costa Rica, on August 13, 1942. At the age of 13 she moved with her family to Lake Hughes, California. She graduated from Antelope Valley High School in California and attended Mt. San Antonio College in Pomona, CA. Here, she met the love of her life, John Clarkson and the couple was married in June of 1962. In 1972, the couple moved to Gooding, Idaho, where they remained.
Gert was a loving wife and a devoted mother and grandmother. She was an active member of the Catholic Church and was voted Catholic Woman of the year last May.
She will be truly missed by her loving spouse of 57 years - John Clarkson; and her two daughters - Cathy Harris and Colleen (John) Shannon. Along with five grandchildren - Mindy and Bradley Harris and Paul, Brigid, and Michael Shannon.
Gert was proceeded in death by: her parents - Lily and Matt Geier; and beloved granddaughter - Mary Elizabeth Shannon.
Prayers of the Rosary will be recited on Monday, November 18, 2018 at 10:30 at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Gooding. Mass of Christian Burial will follow starting at 11:00 am.
A private family inurnment will take place later at the Elmwood Cemetery in Gooding.
Cremation and funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Demaray Funeral Service - Gooding Chapel.
