Guy was born on May 18,1952 in Long Beach California to Stephen E. Oates and Ava Dolores (Overton) Oates.
He has three daughters and one son, Joanna (Joey), Jennifer, Luke and Ashley and six grandchildren. He has four sisters and one brother: Laurie, Lindy, Cindy, Kelly and Lisa, along with many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Guy grew up in Long Beach, California in the same neighborhood as lots of his cousins.
His early days included annual family vacation camping trips to lakes in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Guy loved fishing, hunting, cooking, motocross, motorcycle racing. Through the years he has had many automobiles, ocean fishing boats and motorcycles. When it came to cooking, Guy always concocted his own spice mixes, sauces and recipes. He fished the Pacific Ocean waters of California and Mexico tirelessly for many years. Annual deer hunts were an important part of his life.
In the early 2000s he returned to Long Beach with his partner Mollie. After a few years, they began a search for their retirement home, searching for their ideal spot in California, Utah, Arizona, Nevada and Idaho. One day they were lost and found themselves in Hagerman, Idaho which soon became home. Hagerman was Guy’s hunting paradise-deer, rock chuck, elk, geese and ducks.
Guy loved his family and friends and loved meeting people and developing relationships. His loyalty to his friends is legendary, always willing to help out in any way possible. Guy will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him.
No services are scheduled at this time with cremation arrangements under the care and direction of Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel.
