On July 7, 2025, Harold Dean McDougal, 83, peacefully passed away at his daughter's home surrounded by family. While this saddens us, we know that he had a joyous reunion with so many that he had lost, especially his wife. He told his son and daughter the week before, he was ready to be reunited with his beautiful wife.
Harold McDougal was born January 16,1942, in Atwood, Kansas to Orlen and Madaline. He spent most of his childhood in the Midwest before moving to Twin Falls, Idaho. Where he enjoyed being in the car club and played in the band at Twin Falls High School where he graduated.
After high school he went to visit his dad in California. Little did he know his big sister’s best friend would soon become the love of his life! Carol was a beautiful southern California girl with a big heart and a lot of spice. On January 26, 1963 they married in Redondo Beach, California. They then began their life together, creating a beautiful family. Lori, Gilbert and Scott, with Deporter joining them later on. One year for Christmas his sister-in-law Kathleen gave him a book on being a cattleman. He then decided they would move to Idaho and start a dairy. They landed in Gooding where he spent the rest of his days.
Harold was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed doing this with his sons, and later his granddaughters. Harold knew lots of things, he wore many different hats, and was able to pass along a lot of those skills.
Harold loved the Lord; he was a good and faithful servant. One of his most favorite things to say was “God is in charge”. Him and Carol did love doing bible study together. They also enjoyed doing the daily crossword puzzles together, watching their cooking shows, and of course they watched the outdoor channel more than Carol probably wanted.
He is preceded in death: by his wife of 58 years – Carol; his parents; his sister – Gloria; his sons – Scott and Deporter; his son-in-law - Timothy Sites; and daughter-in-law - Betty McDougal.
He is survived by: his daughter - Lori Sites; son - Gilbert (Angel) McDougal; 7 grand daughters and several beautiful grandchildren that he loved very much.
This is not goodbye, it is see you later. We find comfort in knowing that one day we will be reunited with our family members who have gone before us.
