Harold Richard Schaefer, Jr., alias “Skip”
Skip’s journey in this life is sadly over. He left us on April 15, 2026, leaving behind his loving wife of 57 years – Juanita Schaefer, and many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was born in Hailey, Idaho on November 3, 1938 to Ina Morris and Harold Schaefer.
Skip grew up loving hunting, fishing, trapping, and one of his greatest loves was mining. Skip even got to adventure to Peru, as well as Nome, Alaska in pursuit of gold.
He often claimed to be the last kid in Hailey to be run over by a horsedrawn milk wagon.
Skip served in the National Guard 1956-1966 and was a Sergeant E-6.
Skip worked many jobs throughout his life, he worked as a meat cutter, miner, store owner at Skip’s Wilderness Service in Lowell, Idaho, the Beaver Creek Store, and was water master for Silver Creek and the Little Wood River area for 29 years.
Skip was very loved by all who knew him and will be deeply missed.
