Jack Houser Obituary

Jack E. Houser, 76, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on March 28, 2025, at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Hospital.

Born February 15, 1949, in Wendell, Idaho at St. Valentine’s Hospital.  Jack was the son of Halmond Von Rolla (Hal) and Amma June (McGhee) Houser.

A graduate of Gooding High School, Class of 1969, Jack went on to serve his country with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. It was during his military service that he met the love of his life, Diane Yarussi, at the Marine Corps Club on base in Norfolk, VA, during spring break. They married just three months later, on December 30, 1971, and celebrated 53 years of love and devotion.

Jack was an avid outdoorsman who cherished spending time with his family. Whether fishing, hunting, or simply enjoying nature, he was always eager to share these experiences with his children and grandchildren. A loving and humorous father and grandfather, Jack would go to great lengths to help his loved ones. His generous spirit left an enduring impact on all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by his brother - John Buhl Houser.

Jack is survived by his devoted wife - Diane (Yarussi) Houser; his three sons - John Houser (Araceli), Jason Houser (Keleah), and Michael Houser (Danielle); a sister-in-law - Arlene Strande. He is also survived by his six cherished grandchildren - Gwendolyn, Andrew, Aiden, Audrianna, Cari, and Titus.

Jack’s love for his family, his courage as a Marine, and his memorable quips will be remembered by all who were fortunate to know him.

A service of remembrance will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at Solid Rock Baptist Church at 2148 Main Street in Gooding, Idaho.

Interment with military honors will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Gooding.

A viewing will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel.
