Jack Willis Kuhn, Jr.

     Jack Kuhn, 59, a resident of Gooding, passed away on Friday, November 5, 2021 at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Twin Falls.

     Jack Willis Kuhn, Jr. was born June 24, 1962 in American Falls, Idaho, to Jack and Carolyne Kuhn.  He was one of four boys (Steve, Todd, Milton, & Tim) and he had one sister (Trina).

     He was raised in Elk Grove, California where he went to school and competed in Rodeo. Once he graduated, he worked on jobs doing farm work and welding. In 1983 he moved to Idaho and started hauling hay for Scott Jackson.  Jack bought a boom truck and started working for Capps, he then moved onto work for Rich Thompson hauling hay.  After that he bought his first cattle truck and started hauling cows for Tom Yore.  On August 1, 2011 Jack went to work for Dan Mauger at the Wendell Buying Station as a Trucking Dispatch Manager where he was still employed at the time of his death. Throughout his years of hard work, Jack continued to rodeo and woo women.

     He met the love of his life, Debbie Dains whom he married on June 14, 2003 in Gooding, Idaho.  Jack welcomed a step daughter, Kayla on that day as his own as well.  Debbie, Kayla, and Jack’s stepson Doug were the highlights of his life.

     Jack was always very adamant that they changed his life for the better. Jack continued to rodeo and share his love of rodeo with any kid willing to learn.  He traveled down the road with his nephew Gary Kuhn roping and hazing.  He spent much time at home teaching the neighbor kids how to rope and ride.  Jack was a mentor and Idol to many.  He was well loved at the Wendell Buying Station and helped many guys get up on their feet.

     Jack was “Papa” to five grandchildren, (Gabe, Sofia, Koda Jack, Ledger, & Baylor).  Once he became Papa, he spent the majority of his time chasing around grandbabies, teaching them to ride horses, buying dirt bikes, and creating many loving memories with them. He will be greatly missed. 

     A celebration of life for Jack will be held on Monday, November 15, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Gooding Basque Center.  Services will conclude at the Center.

     Funeral and cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel.
