Jack Lynn Nelson, a resident of Gooding, Idaho passed away on January 27, 2021 at the age of 72 due to COVID-19 complications.
Jack was born on October 13, 1948 in Roseburg, Oregon. He is the son of Lois and John Nelson.
Jack taught for 28 years in the Gooding School District and was a beloved coach of cross-country, track, and basketball. Jack is remembered for his commitment to the community and faithful service in his Church. Emblems of this service and his artistry as a carpenter remain throughout the area in the form of custom homes, renovations & other community projects.
He is survived by: his wife – Kathy, and mother-in-law - Betty Butler. He is lovingly remembered by his children - Jon, Jared, Jenni, Amie, Kurtis, and Lara; as well as sisters - Jan Bainbridge and Karen Ivy; and brothers - Claude and Steve Nelson.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Demaray Funeral Service - Gooding Chapel. Masks and social distancing are recommended.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Gooding. Masks and social distancing are required.
Burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Gooding.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Demaray Funeral Service - Gooding Chapel.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made by check made payable to Gooding High School Cross Country and may be left in care of Demaray Funeral Service in Gooding.
