James Elwin "Smoky" Webb, 89, a resident of Shoshone, Idaho, passed peacefully from this life, August 9, 2025, at home, surrounded by his family.
James was born on March 26, 1936, in Shoshone, Idaho, the son of Ray Joe and Mary Leladell Webb. He was raised and educated in Shoshone, Idaho, graduating from Shoshone High School in 1955.
He married Alice Sorensen on October 11, 1955. They shared 70 years of marriage together.
James lived his entire life in Shoshone, Idaho and worked for the Idaho Department of Transportation. He loved the outdoors including hunting, fishing and trapping. His family was the most important thing in his life.
James is survived by his wife, Alice; sons - Austin (Deborah) of Kennewick, Washington, and Jason (Annette) of North East, Maryland; a daughter-in-law - Ruthie Webb, of Twin Falls, Idaho; also surviving are his brothers - Bennie Webb of Boise, Idaho, Calvin Webb (Elaine) of Fairfield, Idaho; and a sister - Karen (Frank) Daniels of Florence, Arizona. He is survived by nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
James is preceded in death by his son, Byron Webb; parents - Ray Joe and Mary Leladell Webb; brothers - Melvin Webb and Jesse Webb; and a sister - Mary Lou Giles.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at the Shoshone Ward Building of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Shoshone, Idaho, with Bishop Bryan Peterson conducting.
Burial will be in the Shoshone Cemetery in Shoshone, Idaho.
Family members and friends may call from 5-7pm on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Demaray Funeral Service - Shoshone Chapel; and from 10:00-10:45 am on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at the Shoshone LDS Church prior to the service.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Demaray Funeral Service - Shoshone Chapel.
