Jay Christensen Chandler, 80, a resident of Wendell, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at his home in Wendell.
Jay Christiansen Chandler was born on Friday the 14th day of March 1941 to Ferren James and Ivy Christiansen Chandler. He was the third child of five. When Jay was born, he already had a big sister named Donna and a big brother named Rulon. Then he became a big brother to a brother named Wayne and his baby sister named Lola.
Jay was raised on a farm in Wendell. Jay graduated high school in 1959 and from there instead of going to college he went to trade school in Pocatello. Jay met and married the love of his life Sharon Birdwell. They fell in love and married on February 25, 1976 in Elko, Nevada.
Jay and Sharon raised 6 children together: Larry Geren – Hagerman, Tamie Harbaugh - Buhl, Kristine Petersen - Buhl, Allan Chandler - Wendell, Jaylene St. Amand - Washington and Troy Chandler - Twin Falls.
The family lived in Rupert, Idaho where Jay and Sharon owned their own business, taking care of a gas station and repair shop. Later Jay and Sharon moved back to Wendell, and both worked for the Postal Service until they retired and moved to Arizona. In November of 2016 Jay and Sharon moved back home to Idaho to be with the family once again.
A funeral service will be held at the Wendell L.D.S. Church at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2021. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church.
Jay will be laid to rest in the Wendell Cemetery and then there will be a dinner at the L.D.S. Church following the services for all whom would love to attend.
