Jerry D “Junior” Pierce, 51, a resident of Gooding, Idaho, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at his home in Gooding.
Junior was born April 19, 1974 in Puyallup, Washington, the son of Jerry and Becky Brandfas Pierce.
Junior went to grade school and middle school in Tacoma, Washington and Lancaster, California but graduated in 1992 from Gooding High School. He participated in the vocal and drama programs at Gooding High School, where he excelled in musicals, and later also performed in numerous Christmas Cantatas.
After graduating high school, Junior worked for Gooding County Sheriff as a jailer/dispatcher and also for Wendell Police Department as a reserve officer.
Junior enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving for 6 years, mostly of which as an editor/writer and photographer for the Corps magazine "Pass in Review". He won numerous awards as a combat correspondent. He was the "voice" of 8th & I as the parade announcer and also worked for HQMC (Headquarters Marine Corps) at the Pentagon and Navy annex.
While serving in the military, in 1998 Junior met and married Brenda Burch in Gaithersburg, Maryland. They had a son Zachary Pierce and were later divorced.
Once Junior returned back to Gooding, the majority of his employment was in the trucking industry as a parts specialist/manager.
Junior served at Gooding Springs Calvary Chapel for several years as the IT person, and also ministered to the residents at Bennett Hills by leading bible studies and doing praise and worship songs with them.
Junior was a member of the Gooding B.P.O.E. (Elks)
Junior especially enjoyed camping with friends and family, cooking, karaoke, and riding his Harley, but most of all, Junior loved playing his guitar and singing with his dad.
Junior was preceded in death by his grandparents - Roy & Mona Brandfas; Wayne & Phyllis Pierce; his mom - Becky Brandfas Hansen; and his brother - Shane Pierce.
He is survived by: his son - Zack Pierce; father and stepmom - Jerry Pierce Sr. (Kay); brother - Luke (Ange) Pierce; niece - Ashley Pierce; stepbrothers - Jeromy (Karen) Smith and Jared Smith; his girlfriend - Trisha Adams and her family; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
A celebration of life will be held at Gooding Springs Calvary Chapel, 1730 Main St. on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution could be made to Demaray Funeral Service.
Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel.
