Joy Appell lost her battle with cancer on September 28, 2025, at her home in Richfield. She is now at peace with her husband, Pete.
Joy was born in Sheridan, Wyoming on August 22, 1947, to Gene and Audrey Faddis.
Joy married Pete Appell June 17, 1965, in the Richfield Methodist Church and have been married 58 years. Both have lived in the Richfield area all their lives.
She started her community involvement as a high school student working at the local snack bar. Her first employment out of high school was for Ross’s Egg Farm, then Piper’s Grocery and part time as a cook at the Richfield Senior Center. For over 30 years she worked while assisting Pete with running the family dairy. Joy made multiple friendships over the years working in the community.
Joy enjoyed bowling, watching the Yankees and following the NBA and college basketball every year. She enjoyed short trips in the fall with Pete, from the Oregon Coast to the Dakota’s. Always bringing back a gift for everyone. Her most enjoyment came from taking the grandsons on trips usually ending up with ice cream at a local shop.
Joy was instrumental in the Richfield community. Coaching Richfield Little League Softball teams, assisting with Cub Scouts, Richfield Little League, Richfield Youth Basketball and playing on the women’s softball team. Later in life she followed the grandsons in their school events and sports.

She was preceded in death by: her parents – Gene and Audrey Faddis; and two brothers - Larry Faddis and Bob Faddis.
Joy was loved by all, a good friend and quick to get on the phone for a little gossip- she will be truly missed.

A graveside celebration of life will be held on a later date.
