June Annette (McConnell) Utz

     June Annette McConnell Utz, 71, of Gooding, Idaho died peacefully at home June 8, 2021 with her husband of almost 52 years at her side.

     June was born on April 27, 1950 in Gooding, Idaho, the daughter of Alvin and Eula McConnell.  She was raised in the rural farming community of Tuttle, Idaho along with two dear brothers and a close sister.  She held dear many memories on the farm before her family moved to Gooding around 1963. She was also very proud of her class that graduated from Gooding High School in 1968.

     June attended Idaho State University in Pocatello before returning to Gooding to marry Kerry Lee Utz on August 10, 1969. She worked for a short time at Cook’s grocery and then began raising her two sons Aaron (1971) and Brian (1974).  Once her sons were raised, June worked for Volco building supply (later renamed Franklin) from 1990 to 2007. From that time, she kept books for Utz Electric until retiring in 2016.

     June was outgoing, easily made new friends, was strong-willed, and took pleasure in debating controversial topics. She also loved nothing more than annual reunions with her extended family and making new friends while spending winters in southern Arizona. One of her favorite activities was sitting in camp with family and close friends while reminiscing.  She also loved a good mystery and testing her ability to figure out whodunnit. She spent weeks preparing for the Christmas season and couldn’t wait to spoil her entire family. We will all miss her presence at home, at camp, and at games.

     June is survived by her husband, Kerry Utz; her son, Aaron Douglas (Darolyn) Utz of Bliss, Idaho; daughter-in-law Tiffany Utz; as well as grandchildren Brylea Cathleen (19), Easton Cole (16), Austyn June (12), and Savanah Lee (8).

     June is preceded in death by her parents Eula and Alvin McConnell; siblings Bruce, Rex, and Pam; and her son Brian.

     A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 2021 at the Elmwood Cemetery in Gooding.  A celebration of June’s life will follow at the Gooding Elks Lodge.

     A viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Demaray Funeral Service - Gooding Chapel.
