Kathryn Marie (Campbell) Strunk

          Kathryn Marie Strunk, 84, a resident of Shoshone, passed away at her home in Shoshone on June 2, 2024.

          Kathryn was born on March 27, 1940 in Clayton, Idaho, the daughter of Robert and Lucille Campbell. She was raised and educated in Clayton and graduated in Challis, Idaho.

           Kathryn and Stan eloped and got married in Reno, Nevada on October 15, 1959. They lived in Clayton for a short while, then moved to Provo, Utah, where Stan worked for Thycol. They later moved to Malad, Idaho, where Stan worked in a uranium mine. In 1961 she gave birth to Eugene Robert, and in 1964 Stanley Thomas was born.

            They moved to Shoshone in 1964 where Stan went to work for Strunk’s Hardware – his family’s business. Kathryn worked at the Manhattan Café & Boston Café in Shoshone. She had a few other jobs until she went to work at Tupperware in Jerome, Idaho, until they closed. She also worked at Walmart until she retired after 18 years there. She made many friends that she loved like family – she was famous for her Christmas fudge.

            Stan and Kathryn didn’t meet an animal they wouldn’t take under their wings. They adopted every stray that wandered  by, including children! They were very loving and cared about everyone they met. They always had an open door and loving arms to greet you. They loved going to Jackpot to the buffet and Kathryn and Naty were always sure they’d win the Big One! They will be sorely missed and the memories of them will always be cherished.

            Kathryn Strunk is survived by her husband, Stanley Strunk; their sons, Eugene Robert and Stanley Thomas Strunk of Shoshone; her step- daughter Kathryn Marie Sullivan of Shoshone; her sister, Thelma Ennis of Marsing; four grandchildren: Chauncey Brauburger, Dessa Hadzor, Denae Sullivan, and Stanley Sullivan; seven great grandchildren: Macheala Brauburger, Colton Brauburger, Raylee Matheny, Logan Matheny, Caitlynn Sullivan, Kenlee Hadzor, and Rylee Hadzor.

            She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lucille Campbell; her brothers, Tom and Bob Campbell; sisters: Susie Millick, Donna Leaton, and Margret Sweet.

            A memorial service will be held at the Golden Years Senior Center in Shoshone on August 3, 2024 at 1 pm. A memorial graveside will be held on August 17, 2024 at 2pm at the Clayton Cemetery, in Clayton, Idaho.

           Memorial contributions may be made to Shoshone’s Animal Shelter.

Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of Demaray Funeral Service -  Shoshone Chapel.
