Leland Dwain Russell, 61, a resident of Hagerman, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Twin Falls.
Leland Russell was born on May 20, 1960 in Ely, Nevada, the son of Dwain and Patricia Russell.
He grew up in Utah and later lived in Oregon. He graduated from OIT in Klamath Falls, Oregon
Leland married Catherine Lydia Cole on September 20, 1980 in Sprague River, Oregon. They lived in Oregon until their children were grown. Leland and Catherine then moved to Idaho to work for the National Park Service.
Leland and Catherine raised five amazing children and enjoyed spending time with their family as much as possible. Leland especially loved taking the grandkids fishing and watching them participate in sports. He was known for going on great adventures with his family even if it took ten hours of driving and three different fishing holes to catch one fish.
Leland is survived by: his wife – Catherine Lydia Russell of Hagerman; two sons – Bryan (Mary Ellen) Russell of Shoshone and Jeffrey (Aubrey) Russell of Union, Oregon; three daughters – Amanda (Chad) Huddleston of Gooding, Carma (Thomas) Schlegel of LaGrande, Oregon and Laura Russell of Buhl; one brother – Kelley (Millie) Russell of Grantsville, Utah; one sister – Rhonda Smith of Klamath Falls, Oregon; eleven grandchildren – Kelley Huddleston; Leland, Megan, Kaydi and Ransom Schlegel; Lydia, Ty and Ely Russell; Riley, Gordon and Brantley Russell.
He was preceded in death by: his parents – Dwain and Patricia Russell; and one brother – Gordon Russell.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 10:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hagerman. A viewing will be held from 9:00 am until service time at the Church.
Interment will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Gooding.
