Lester Owen Boian, beloved husband, father, and Papa, passed away on July 5, 2024, in Springdale, Washington. He was born to Robert "Owen" and Doris Boian on May 31, 1948, in Wendell, Idaho. Les graduated from Wendell High School in 1966 and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Education in 1970 from the University of Idaho.
Les married the love of his life, Margie Lierman, on December 30, 1972. Together, they were blessed with two children, Marne Feucht and Kelly Boian. Les and Margie shared 52 years of love, adventure, trials, and celebrations.
Throughout his life, Les had a deep passion for agriculture, particularly sheep farming. His journey with sheep began at the young age of 9, and he continued to nurture this passion throughout his life. Les and Margie resided in various places, with Les working as a State Dairy Inspector in Idaho and later joining the FDA as an FDA Milk Specialist. He eventually became a Branch Manager in the Division of Milk Safety for the western United States, a role he held until his passing.
Above all, Les cherished his family. He was known for his warm smile, sense of humor, and his knack for storytelling. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he took great pride in their achievements. Les was a generous and kind-hearted individual who never hesitated to help others.
A graveside service will be held in Wendell, Idaho, on July 19 at the Wendell Cemetery at 11 am, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Wendell City Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Les' memory to the University of Idaho Department of Agricultural and Extension Education.
Les' legacy lives on through his loving wife Margie, children Marne (Jeremy) and Kelly (Laurelle), grandchildren Kyle, Arielle, Tyler, Asher, Ryan, and Kaitlyn, as well as all those who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace, forever praising God in heaven.
