Maxine (Stiles) Mogensen

Doris Maxine (Stiles) Mogensen peacefully passed away on June 9, 2026, while a resident at Pine Oaks Senior Living in Twin Falls, Idaho.  She was 96 years old. 

Maxine was a sweetheart baby, born on February 14, 1930, in Filer, Idaho.  She was an active girl who loved being outdoors and riding her bike, delivering the Times-News around the neighborhood.  Max, as she was known by her siblings Harold, Herb, Dorothy and Donna, always had strong feelings - never backing down from her opinions.  As a cheerleader at Filer High School, she met and fell in love with the captain of the football team, Charles Mogensen.  They married in December 1946 and began their 37 years of farm life southwest of Jerome.  

The farm eventually grew to nearly 600 acres, with help from their eight children.  Maxine was a wonderful wife, fiercely devoted mother, sister and friend.   She grew a huge garden, canning and freezing during harvest to feed her large family.  Maxine was an active member of the Appleton Improvement Club and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) at St. Pauls' Lutheran Church in Jerome.  She created dozens of banners for many church holidays and events.  In her later years, she began quilting and gifting beautiful pieces to family and friends.  After the family farm was sold in 1983, Chuck and Maxine moved to Wendell.  

Maxine became a widow in 1984, and moved to Boise in 2014, then Pine Oaks in the fall of 2022.   

She was preceded in death by five grandchildren:  Mark, Brian, Katie, Alexis and Randy (Spud). 

Maxine is survived by her children:  Phyllis Mogensen Kochert (Mike), Ruth Mogensen Aresvik, Carla Mogensen Armentrout (Doug), Lori Mogensen Steadham (Randy), Dawna Mogensen, Vicky Mogensen Hanson (John), Charles William Mogensen Jr., aka Bill (Lori Sue), and Mike Mogensen; twenty-one grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild...with one great grandchild and one great, great-grandchild on the way.  

Graveside services will be held in Wendell Cemetery at a future date, followed by a celebration of life.
