Born: February 8, 2000 — Died: January 12, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of McKenna Nichols, who left us on January 12, 2025, at the age of 24. McKenna was a daughter, sister, friend, and inspiration to all who knew her. Born on February 8, 2000, she was a fierce, independent spirit whose light shone brightly in everything she did.
McKenna was a high performer in every aspect of her life, excelling both academically and athletically from a young age. Her dedication to excellence was evident in her schoolwork, where she consistently went above and beyond, and in her passion for fitness, which she approached with the same drive and determination. McKenna had an insatiable appetite for life and a wild soul that led her to take on challenges with courage and enthusiasm.
Her deep sense of service led her to join the United States Army, where she served with honor and completed two deployments in the Middle East. McKenna was proud of her military service, and the lessons she learned in the Army shaped the incredible woman she became—brave, independent, and unafraid to blaze her own trail.
In addition to her military career, McKenna was a skilled and dedicated electrician apprentice. She easily excelled in a traditionally male-dominated industry, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues and proving time and again that she could succeed in any endeavor she set her mind to.
McKenna is survived by her loving parents, Seth and Cara Nichols, and her siblings, Sydnie, Sam, and Max. She was a source of strength and inspiration to her family and her close-knit group of friends. Though fiercely independent, McKenna’s love for her family and her deep bonds with those she cared for were constant throughout her life.
McKenna struggled with her mental health, and we mourn the loss of a young woman who carried so much within her. Despite her many achievements, she faced battles that were unseen by many. In her memory, we hope that her passing will bring attention to the importance of mental health awareness and support for those who suffer in silence.
A memorial service will be held on February 23, 2025 at 1pm at Barber Park Event Center 4049 S Eckert Rd, Boise, ID, 83716. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a mental health organization or charity of your choosing.
McKenna’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She was a force of nature—brave, kind, and full of fire—and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace, free from the struggles she fought so valiantly.
