Melba New Simmons, 80, a resident of Gooding, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at her home in Gooding.
Melba has been a proud resident of Gooding since 1980. She loved this town, made a good home and created countless friendships in the last 45 years. All that knew her were blessed to do so and are better people as a result. She was full of wonder and curiosity, finding miracles, enlightenment and beauty in all things. Melba loved everyone, especially her four boys. A great mother, mentor and friend. Melba was as tough as a lumberjack and as sweet and kind as a kitten. Fierce, gentle and forgiving but alas mortal. Melba was one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all of us that she touched.
Melba is survived by: two sons - Roy “Gene” New and his wife Aimee, and Kelly New; her sister - Vivian Black; her grandchildren - Curtis, Steven, Mallory, Tabitha, Wyatt, Amie, Christina, Deborah, Kammie, Keith, Crystal and numerous great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents - Henry and Ida Sirrine; brother - Gene Sirrine; sons - Gerry New and Kenny New; and her husbands - Oliver Roy New and Dwight Simmons.
No services will be held at this time.
Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel.
