Melinda Kathleen (Hanes) DeWit

     Melinda Kathleen DeWit, 72, a resident of Wendell, Idaho, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2020 in Jerome, Idaho after a courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

     Melinda was born on January 15, 1948 in Hollywood, California, the daughter of Luther William and Clara Jane (Carpenter) Hanes.  In 1958 Melinda’s family moved to Thousand Oaks, California where she graduated from Thousand Oaks High School.

     Melinda moved to Wendell, Idaho in 1979 where she met her beloved husband – Neil DeWit.  Melinda was a great friend to many.  She adored her children and grandchildren and will be deeply missed by all.

     Melinda is survived by: her children – Lori (Dave) Elm of Huntington Beach, California; Mark (Jillyn) Johnson of Wendell, Idaho; and Mike (June) Johnson of Santa Monica, California; step-children – Tony (Julie) DeWit of Wendell, Idaho and Tracy (Bob) Wilhelm of Jerome, Idaho; and 8 grandchildren.

     She was preceded in death by her husband – Neil DeWit.

     A private family graveside will be held at the Wendell Cemetery in Wendell.

     Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Demaray Funeral Service – Wendell Chapel.
