September 13, 1925 ~ November 2, 2021 (age 96) 96 Years Old

Merthan Ellis Obituary

     Merthan Glenn Ellis passed away Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021 in Lehi, Utah, at the home of Garrin & Stefanie Ellis where he lived the last nine months with his son.  He was surrounded by his loving family.

      Merthan was born in Riverside, Idaho on Sept. 13, 1925 to Glenn & Nettie Mae Ellis.  Merthan was the 2nd of 4 children.  He went to school in Riverside and attended Moreland High School.  He spent his younger years mostly in Idaho where he loved working with and learning farming from his father.  He was drafted during W.W. II and served in the Navy, attending boot camp in Farragut, Idaho.  Merthan met Vonnie Mae Elison and they were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on Sept 10, 1946.  In dad’s words, “I only had her 70 years”.  Together they had 7 children who they taught to work hard on the farm and play harder.  Merthan taught his family to snow and water ski and they enjoyed many hours together doing so. 

     Merthan is survived by: his brother - Gerry Lee (Cathy) Ellis; children - Randy (Chris), Kevin (Sylvia), Kim (Tammy), Merilee (Harold) Waters, Jeff (Dyan) Sears, Lanett (Barry) Hallows, and Garrin (Stefanie) Ellis.  He is also survived by 40 grandchildren and 107 great grandchildren. 

     He was preceded in death: by his forever sweetheart - Vonnie Mae; his parents; sisters - Ruth (Lamar) Elison, and Marilyn (Darwin) Wright; daughter - Margo Sears, 3 granddaughters and 1 great grandson. 

     A funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Wendell Chapel on Sat, Nov 13, 2021 at 11:00 am. 

     Viewings will be Friday, Nov 12th from 6:30 - 8:00 pm at the Demaray Funeral Home at 164 East Main St. Wendell and again Sat. Nov 13th from 9:30-10:45 at The L.D.S. Chapel. 

     Interment will be in the Wendell Cemetery in Wendell.

     Funeral services are under the care and direction of Demaray Funeral Service – Wendell Chapel.
