Nancy Montgomery Obituary

Nancy Jean (Sackett) Montgomery passed quietly from this life on March 30, 2024 at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls, with her son Kevin and his wife by her side.

Nancy was born to Orville and Ruth (DeMoss) Sackett in Filer, ID on September 26, 1940.  She grew up on the family farm west of Filer.  She graduated from Filer High School in 1958.  After high school, Nancy went to nursing school in Boise, graduating in 1961.  On September 16, 1961 she married Paul Montgomery.  Together they had two sons, Kevin and Jeff.

A few years later, they moved the family to California where Nancy continued her career as an RN.  In 1973 the family moved back to Idaho, where she went to work for the Twin Falls Clinic and Hospital for many years.  She later worked for a few other facilities prior to retiring, always caring for her patients as a dedicated nurse.  She and Paul later divorced.

After retirement, Nancy spent several summers traveling with a group of friends with her RV and camping in many beautiful places.  One of her favorite trips was a cruise to Alaska. She loved the beauty that she was able to experience.  She loved that she was able to go to Alaska with her son Jeff to see the work he was doing on his place there.  She also enjoyed helping people by driving them to appointments whenever she was called on.  For many years she was active in the Buhl Bible Church until March of 2020, when most churches went to online participation due to health concerns.

She loved spending time with her family, playing board games, watching Boise State football, playing Bingo with Dona, watching old westerns and game shows.  She loved her ice cream, popcorn, smartees, and BBQ ribs.  She had been heard to say potatoes served in any way should not be served without gravy.  She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents - Orville and Ruth Sackett; brothers - Larry and OD Sackett; sister - Gloria Schiffler, and grandson - Michael Montgomery.

She is survived by her sisters-in-law - Barbara and Pat Sackett; children - Kevin (Shirley) Montgomery of Gooding, ID and Jeff Montgomery of Kennewick, WA; Grandchildren - Daniel and Eric Montgomery of Gooding ID, Jeanine Montgomery of Nampa, ID, Mitchel (Alicia) Montgomery of Twin Falls, ID and Mike (Shady) Montgomery of Richland, WA; 2 great-grandchildren - Thomas and Nehemiah and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Ashley Manor in Kimberly for their loving care of Nancy while she was there, the Emergency Staff, and the caring nurses at St. Luke’s Magic Valley.

A Celebration of Life to honor Nancy will be announced at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of Demaray Funeral Service - Gooding Chapel.
