Nyla Weaver passed peacefully from this life with family by her side on October 30, 2025, at St. Lukes Wood River Medical Center.
Nyla was born January 16, 1929, in the Carey Idaho hospital, the youngest child of James Henry and Ida Lucille Wilde. She grew up with four sisters, Emily Smith, Hazel Dixon, Iris Cook and Delsa Wilde and two brothers, Earl Wilde and Leonard Wilde. Nyla attended school in Carey and graduated in 1947.
A short time later, Nyla met the love of her life, Reed Weaver. As she told it, they met one night while stealing chickens! They had a brief romance and married on December 30, 1952. Reed and Nyla put down roots in Carey where they raised their three children, Jerry, JoLynn and David. The two were inseparable and fortunate to spend over 70 years side by side. Reed took great care of Nyla, and she has been lost and lonely without him for the two years since he passed.
Nyla is survived by: son - Jerry (Susan) Weaver of Carey; daughter - JoLynn (Randy) Drage of Carey; and son - David Weaver of Battle Mountain, Nevada; six grandchildren – Jake Weaver, Daniel Drage, Brandi Dingman, Cassie Lundergreen, Chance Weaver and Clayton Weaver – and nine great grandchildren - Ashton and Whitley Drage, Macee and Gage Dingman, Ryett and Talyn Weaver, Adley and Quincy Lundergreen, and Silas Weaver.
Nyla was preceded in death by: her parents; siblings; and husband - Reed.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Carey Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Demaray Funeral Service – Shoshone Chapel.
