Pat James Bennett reunited with his love, Vickie, on November 4, 2024 when he passed away at his home in Hill City at the age of 70.
Born May 13, 1954 in Jerome, ID to Emma and Elmer Bennett, the 5th of six children; Jack, Nels, Rollie, Dina, and Christy. The family spent the winters in Wendell and the remainder of the year was spent on the 3rd generation homestead farm in Hill City. Pat played Basketball for Wendell and Football for Camas.
It was in Wendell that he met the love of his life, Vickie Kimbrough. They married June 6, 1972 shortly after graduation and celebrated 51 years before Vickie passed away from cancer last year. They had four daughters; Jenni, Jandi, Maggi and Chelsi; 10 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
Pat and Vickie lived In Hill City where he farmed his family homestead. His happy place was up on Bennett Mountain with a chainsaw in his hand or with binoculars watching and calling in the elk. He was an amazing craftsman who carved everything from custom made gun stocks, log furniture, kid’s toys, totem poles, to statues of trappers and native American figures. He was a man of little words, but showed his love by actions and generosity. He was a quiet protector, loyal to all that were in his circle, and loved being a Papa most of all.
He was preceded in death by his wife Vickie; parents, Elmer and Emma Bennett, and siblings Dina Smith, Rollie Bennett, and Jack Bennett.
He is survived by his daughters; Jenni (Jake) Riley of Hailey, Jandi Bennett of Fairfield, Maggi Bomalaski of Portland, and Chelsi Bennett of Kuna; Siblings- Nels Bennett and Christy Bennett; Grandchildren - Miranda Smith, Alyssa (Chad) Tenbrink, Madison Smith, Ryan (Grace) Bennett, Mason (Ashley) Swainston, Aidyn Swainston, Hadley Bennett Martz, Mabel Bomalaski, Madison Riley-Beard and Kenzie Riley.; Great Grandchildren - Persephone (PJ) and Della Bennett, Ruby Tenbrink; Trusty Hounds- Fred and Barney; Bentleigh Howard and Woodrow Beard.
There will be a viewing Friday, November 8, 2024 at Demaray Funeral Service - Gooding Chapel from 4:00 – 6:00 pm.
A Celebration of Life will be at the Camas County High School Gym in Fairfield on Saturday, November 9th at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at the Hill City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, consider donating to The Make-a-Wish Foundation in his name. He was able to make many kids’ dreams come true with an opportunity to hunt and believed in paying it forward.
